School Activities PRAYER : Our school starts with prayer and “Vande Mataram”. We end our day’s work with National Anthem. Our prayers and National Anthem are rendered with patriotism, devotion and respect. OUR SCHOOL FLAG : Our School Flag is maroon in colour displaying school emblem in the centre. We honour our School Flag as we honour the National Flag. PARLIAMENT : Our school believes in inculcating the spirit of democracy in the budding citizens of our country. So, we have a School Parliament and Council of Ministers, to look after the school administration under the guidance of the school officials. HOUSE SYSTEM : The House System is introduced in the school to promote healthy competition among the students in all activities of the school. Rolling Trophy is awarded to the House adjudged best at the end of the academic year. Duplicate Leaving Certificate will be issued only if an affidavit is produced by the parent/guardian, alongwith sufficient documentary evidence to prove that the original has been lost or damaged.
STAR SYSTEM : In order to bring in excellence amongst the students “Star” scheme of appreciation has been introduced. The students who are Rank Holders in studies are awarded “Star Scholar”. The students who are well disciplined are awarded “Star – Disciplinarian”. The students who converse well in English are awarded “Star – Speaker” and those who perform very well in all spheres are awarded “Star – All Rounder” MONTHLY PRIZE DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMME : It is conducted on the last working day of each month to encourage the students for participation in various activities and develop healthy competition. A parent member of P-T-A. is invited as the Chief-Guest. SPEAKERS’ ACADEMY : In order to motivate students to converse in English class-wise Speakers’ Academy has been formed. Students, who converse well in English are members of this Academy. These student members lead the other students of the class to speak in English. Under its coverage a “Leaders Speak” programme is introduced for the intervening time between two periods and conducted under the tutelege of class teacher. BRITISH COUNCIL DIPLOMA COURSE : British Council Diploma course (English language) has been introduced in 2005 to enable the students to attempt the various levels of tests viz Young Learners of English (YLE), Key English Test (KET) and Proficiency in English Test (PET) prescribed by the Cambridge University, U.K. SCHOOL PUBLICATION i) NES YOUNG EXPRESSION Our School has been bringing out a monthly magazine aptly titled “NES Young Expression” for the students to inculcate in them a reading habit and give exposure to their talents. Parents are advised to encourage their wards to contribute articles/ poems/drawings/paintings etc. for publication in “NES Young Expression.”. ii) CLASS MAGAZINE Every class is expected to bring out a class magazine, the class teacher functioning as the Chief Editor. This magazine is to be submitted to school office within a week after Christmas vacation i.e. by 10th of January. Prizes are awarded to the selected magazines. Best articles are selected and published in “NES Young Expression.” 10. EXAMINATION AND PROMOTION : Promotions are decided by the rules laid down by the Education Department and applied to the students by a specially constituted Promotion Committee.Therefore, the decision of the committee is final and under no circumstance will it be reconsidered or altered. As such, direct or indirect approach for reconsideration of promotion will be dealt with seriously. As per Rules, 75% attendance is required to be eligible to appear for each Semester Examination. Four Unit tests and Two Semester Examinations will be held in the course of the year. Students, who do not attend the tests/examinations without sufficient reasons will be considered to have failed. Students absenting from any examination, except on medical grounds, will not be re- examined. SCHOLARSHIPS / AWARDS Shri S. V. Ramakrishnan Memorial Scholarship : Awarded to two deserving students one each in Primary and Secondary sections, by the Management in memory of the Society’s late President Shri S. V. Ramakrishnan, who passed away on 22nd February, 1978. Sports Scholarship : Freeships are awarded by the Management to two students in consideration of sports ability one each in Primary and Secondary sections as per the recommendation of the respective Sports Committees. P - T - A Scholarship : Under the welfare scheme of the Parent - Teachers’ Assocation of our school and Jr. College, scholarships are awarded to deserving students, as per the recommendations made by the Managing Council of P-T-A. Smt. Ratnam Ramaswamy Memorial Award : A cash award of Rs.1001/- is awarded to a student, who tops the HSC merit list of the college. The award is instituted by our Founder-President Dr. R. Varadarajan in memory of his beloved mother. Sri. Subramania lyer Memorial scholarship : A cash scholarship of Rs.250/- is given to one student, who stands first in SSC in English, Maths and Science taken together. A cash scholarship each of Rs.125l- is given to a boy and a girl each of Std. lX, who secure maximum marks in English, Maths and Science taken together. >NOTE : The prescribed forms for the above Scholarships / Awards can be obtained from the office on or before 20th June and should be submitted to the office for scrutiny, latest by 1st July of respective years 14. LIST OF PRIZES A Gold Medal and a certificate of merit are awarded to the student, who scores highest marks in each standard. One prize for music is awarded to the winner of each of the Junior and Senior sections of the school. Prizes are awarded every year for dance, fancy dress, essay writing, handwriting, general knowledge, drawing, elocution and quiz contests. Certificate of Appreciation for cent percent attendance is awarded to the students in all standards |
