School Facilities


DRAWING :

The school encourages the students to appear for the Elementary and Intermediate Grade Drawing Examinations, which are held in September/ October each year. Special coaching is given to talented students in this field.

SPORTS / GYMKHANA / GYMNASIUM :

The school provides all suitable outdoor and indoor games not only to students who have shown talent in some branch of sports but also to the average students motivating them in sports.

Management has appointed expert / special coach for each game to train talented sportsmen and women of the school to groom them to creditably represent at the District / State / National Levels.

To achieve excellence, quarterly sports meets are conducted on compulsory basis.

A well-equipped Govt. Certified Gymnasium has been set up for the benefit of students. The Gymnasium is kept open from 7.00 a.m to 7.00 p.m. Students should contact the Gymnasium Incharge and register their names.

VACATION SPORTS CAMPS :

Our PT teachers organize Sports Camps during Diwali and Summer vacations every year which include Band Camp, Swimming and Karate Camp. Active participation from the students are ensured by the Camps-in-Charge.

SPORTS CLUB :

The club takes up activities to bring up the boys and girls of our High school.

NATIONAL SPORTS / YOGA ACADEMY :

The students must have complete control over physical and mental health along with enough concentration power, The Yoga Academy was started with these benefits in mind.

NES SCHOOL OF SPORTS :

A first of its kind for educational institutions in Maharashtra, the institution has opened a School of Sports in Dombivli to impart specialization to interested students in various indoor and outdoor games. The school is staffed by expert coaches / instructors. This school will function under the guidance of Sports Authority of India, New Delhi.

N.C.C. :

The school encourages students to enroll their names in playing the band consisting of different instruments. The Band Group of the school is unique, which has displayed at various programmes conducted by well reputed schools and organizations and deployed in the reception of very important personalities of the country.

ACADEMIC TALENT PARADE :

Talent Parade and standard–wise activities are conducted twice a year, enabling our students to display their gifted talents.

STUDENTS’ WELFARE FUND :

The school has established a students’ welfare fund to render financial assistance to the deserving students. Fines collected from students are deposited into this account.

Interested parents/ guardians are advised to submit their applications for required monetary assistance in the prescribed form available in the school office.

In recent past, substantial grants have been given to students for treatment of cancer, kidney, brain-tumor etc. The patients have now joined the normal stream of life after recovery.

STAFF WELFARE FUND

The school has also established a Staff Welfare Fund to render financial assistance to deserving staff of the school.

SCHOOL LIBRARY

The School Library is well stocked with text books and advance works for reference. A good number of periodicals and magazines are available for students as well as teachers.

LANGUAGE PROMOTION

It is compulsory for the students to speak in English except in Marathi / Hindi classes. Students, who violate this rule will be fined.

SCIENCE LABORATORY

large and well equipped laboratory provides the facilities necessary for demonstration, experimentation and project work at various levels in all streams of Science i.e, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Rules

  • Students are expected to take good care of the lab equipments.
  • Any breakage has to be made good by those responsible by paying the breakage charges equal to the amount of breakage caused. Collective levy of damage will be done when responsibility cannot be pin-pointed.
  • Stern action will be taken in case of misconduct or wilfull damage.

SCIENCE CLUB

Science Club enriches knowledge of students in the field of Science. It also inculcates a scientific approach in day-to-day life of the students

NATURE CLUB :

The student members of this club carry out various activities including field visits as a part of environment study and also contribute towards environment protection. Tree plantation and School garden maintenance are important activities of this club.

AUDIO VISUAL CENTRE :

Bringing a new dimension to the teaching technology, the Centre has come to be established at NES with the inputs of the latest technology like LCD Projectors, Over Head and Slide Projectors and all facets of audio and visual demonstrations. The outcome of the research activities of NES R & D Centre, the AV Centre is manned by highly trained teachers, well apt in the application of this technology to make education more and more deep rooted.

Effective as such novel additions should usually be, it had a glorious inauguration at the elite hands of our country’s highest Science laurate, Dr. R. Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to Government of India on the Foundation Day of NES and SVB, 14th April, 2002.

AUDIO VISUAL ROOM IN EACH FLOOR :

Teaching with Modern technology involves a lot of modern teaching equipments like Overhead projectors, Slide projectors, LCDs etc. For effective teaching through modern methods and equipments, a separate Audio Visual room has been set up in the NES High School building. To make such modern teaching more effective and give more benefit to many students at a time, it has been planned to set up Audio Visual room one in each floor of the school building.

MINI PLANETARIUM :

The Management has decided to set up a “Mini Planetarium” at NES Complex. Towards this objective, we have associated with Dr.J.J.Rawal, Retd. Director of Nehru Planetarium, as our advisor for setting up the Mini Planetarium.

COMMERCIAL LAB :

“Commerce” having come to acquire no less important a position than “Science & Technology” in the present world scenario, the importance of a laboratory on Commerce education was well perceived by our farsighted Founder - President. Projects, modules, diagrams, tables, charts and statistics on various topics of Jr. College Level are all depicted in the Laboratory, which not only offer insights into the economic fields of the country but also to those of the world scenario. Interested students of Std. IX and X are encouraged to avail of this lab.

MUSIC AND DANCE ACADEMY :

To espouse the talents of students having aptitude in these finest traits of culture, this unit has been introduced. Well qualified teachers take care of the lovers of these fine arts.

Internet facilities have been provided for all our student-members in keeping with the importance of I.T in the present days. Our students and their parents may please visit our Website:www.nessvb.org. and offer their valuable suggestions.

MULTIPURPOSE FULLY AIR CONDITIONED AUDITORIUM :

A multipurpose auditorium, adjacent to the school building is provided for various curricular and co-curricular activities of the school students. Various inter-school competitions and indoor sports activities are also conducted in the auditorium.

HOBBY CLUB :

Students can spend their leisure time pursuing various hobbies. They can improve their knowledge in various fields of their liking. They develop keen interest in the activities and are thoroughly enjoying it.

PHOTOGRAPHY :

Photography acquires a very important place in manifestation of views. It is a branch of study by itself. Hence students are expected to enroll for this Hobby subject willingly in their own interest. The institution has opened a Photo Lab where various arts and technology of photography will be taught. Parents /Guardians are advised to ensure that their wards are enrolled for learning this important career related subject - Photography.

INSTITUTE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES :

In this world of competition knowing a foreign language is an added advantage. With this in mind, various foreign languages like German, French etc. have been introduced in this institute. Students are motivated to learn foreign languages to widen their scope to interact internationally.

INSTITUTE OF PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT :

Institute of personality development has been established to see that each and every student is benefitted from the same. Communication skills in English language and other exercises to boost the confidence and morale of the students are taken up. Veterans in the field are invited to deliver lectures/conduct seminars to benefit the students.

HEALTH EDUCATION :

Health Education has been introduced in the regular curricula of the students. Health experts are taking classes based on the time-table provided to the students. Tests/Exams are conducted on the portion taught periodically. Guest lectures/Seminars are arranged. Regular Medical check up are made for the students, staff and parents. A novel Health Centre was inaugurated on 14th April, 2006, at the hands of an expert from the University of Texas, USA, Prof. (Dr.) Nilesh Chatterjee.

NES MEDICAL CENTRE :

Apart from medical check up of the students , medical treatments are advised and offered by a team of doctors attached to our NES Medical Centre . Medical check up is conducted every year , periodically by expert doctors. The doctors issue a report on each student, which is sent to the parent / guardian for follow up action.

CANCER DETECTION CENTRE :

Cancer being a dreaded disease our Education Society, in its concern to stave off the disease from our entire NES family has been holding in association with Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, Cancer Detection Camps every year, giving a check up for all its students, staff including the society around.

TEACHING – AID CENTRE :

The NES Teaching Aid Centre was inaugurated at the hands of Smt. Smita Kakan, Dy. Director of Education, Greater Mumbai during the Foundation Day celebrations-2006. It is planned to have class-wise - subject wise Teaching Aid centre for the benefit of the students.

Teaching in modern times ought to be colorful and attractive in order to captivate the minds of the students. Further the students understand such concepts better which get embedded in their minds for ever. The school has a good collection of teaching aids like charts, models, transparencies, CAT lessons class wise and subject wise to make teaching effective and long lasting.

MATHS CLUB :

Elocution activities profusely enhance power of comprehension, presence of mind and communication skill of the students. A session for elocution has been included in the school curricula for compulsory exercise, in association with the Forum of Free Enterprise, which also conduct M. R. Pai Memorial Elocution competition for the students.

FIRST AID :

It is a highly useful preventive measure against risks of accidents and sudden ailments . Training in First Aid will be given by a team of doctors from Wockhardt Hospital to the teachers . Teachers in turn will conduct regular classes in “First Aid” for the students.

FINE ARTS :

Fine Arts like painting, drawing, dance and music etc. occupy a very important place in the mental behaviour of a person. To groom this talent in students, these traits will also be taught side by side with school curriculum to interested students. Parents’ interest in these areas would be of much importance.

STUDENTS’ LOCKER SYSTEM IN EACH CLASS :

It is found that students are carrying heavy bags and study materials. In order to avoid this and to ensure that the students possess all study materials during each period, it has been decided to provide each student with a locker in the class room itself. This system will ensure the safety of the students materials in the class and ready availability for studies in the class room, besides reducing the load of bag every day.

FOLDER SYSTEM :

A Book Bank functions under the supervision of a committee , consisting of senior teachers of the institution. It helps the needy students . Many students of the school are benefited by the scheme every year.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT / RAPID RESPONSE UNIT :

Accident and disasters cannot be predicted and when they befall, people become perplexed. The institution has, therefore, decided to train up the teachers / students in disaster management as would be compatible for students’ age group to handle, like First Aid, Accidents, Flood, Fire, Earth Quake and Assault - physical / mental. The Rapid Response unit is raised out of teachers / students to take immediate steps in emergency situations.

16) SCHOOL SERVICES

COUNSELLING

In order to deal with the problems of overactive and problematic students , a well qualified and excellent counsellor has been appointed .While the school itself makes efforts to identify such cases and take remedial measures, parents who feel necessary can approach the counsellor with the problems faced by their wards on Tuesday and Thursday at 12.00 noon to 1.00 p.m.

DIETICIAN

A qualified ‘Dietician’ has been appointed on full time basis. She will arrange guest lectures / seminars / work shops etc. on “Balanced Diet” and “ Maintenance of Good Health “ for benefit of students, parents and teachers.

The dietician will be available for free counselling of students, parents and teachers between 11.00 a.m. and 12.00 noon.

SELF- MANAGEMENT

Under the self- management system , students are involved in the class organization. Accordingly, the entire class administrative work, ie, class control, sports, cultural activities , class magazines etc. are carried out by the students themselves under the supervision of the class teacher, who infuses a sense of responsibility and team spirit and thus the students are equipped to independently handle their own matters.

BOOK BANK

A Book Bank functions under the supervision of a committee , consisting of senior teachers of the institution . It helps the needy students . Many students of the school are benefitted by the scheme every year.

CANTEEN

A clean and well stocked canteen is made available to the students, which supplies hygienic food. Students can avail this facility during the recess. The Canteen will function strictly under the guidance of Health Education Committee.

LOST AND FOUND

There is a ‘lost and found’ section in the school. Lost articles , if recovered , may be claimed during the recess from the teacher – incharge. Students are, however, advised not to bring valuables to school.

SCHOOL TRANSPORT

M/s. Vimal Travels , Mulund , are the bus contractors responsible for to and fro journey of our students. Parents are advised to contact the Transport Contractors directly to ensure safe travelling of their wards.

17) AIMING AT A MODEL SCHOOL

The school is already placed under “A” grade and now it aims at becoming a model one . Towards this following eleven point programme has been formulated and practiced.

  • Involvement of teachers in day-to-day promotional activities.
  • Active participation of students in all the programmes.
  • Treating each class as a unit to maintain standard and take good care of discipline under the chairmanship of the class teacher.
  • Special coaching and personalised attention to weak and problematic students to avoid wastage and stagnation.
  • Well planned weekly /monthly programme for academic, administrative, competitions, discipline, sports, cultural and welfare activities.
  • Preparing and presenting students for exams like government Scholarship, Rashtra Bhasha exam, Drawing Grade exam etc.
  • Developing Laboratories, Mini Science Centre, Museum, Sports Club, Gymnasium, Audio Visual Centre, Mini Planetarium etc.
  • Separate A.V .room for audio – visual education and arrangements for modern teaching aids
  • Welfare and recreational activities for both teachers and students , and providing facilities for students/ teachers seeking innovations and to develop the Research and Development Centre of each department of the school and also following strictly the annual theme.
  • Accept the Annual Theme as a sacred commitment, follow up religiously and deliver results .

THE GOLDEN RULES

Be ready for the Tests/Examinations on all days of the year, by following the Golden Rules:

  • Study with genuine interest. Study under compulsion is not a real study.
  • Students are entirely responsible for the safe custody , proper maintenance and strict follow- up of the calendar.
  • Before going to school see that you are well prepared for the day’s work.
  • Pay whole-hearted attention to the work on hand. On lack of attention you cannot complete any work even in 3 hours, which you would do in 15 minutes with “attention”.
  • If you have any difficulty, get it cleared then and there from the teacher.
  • Do the home assignment daily.
  • Make it a habit to note down the main points of the topic in the ‘Points Register’ maintained by you for each subject.
  • Maintain “Model Answer Register”.
  • Revise the portion done, periodically.
  • Use reference books to supplement the text books
  • If you are tired or bored with a subject, change over to another subject, but it should not be frequent.
  • Be an all rounder by taking part in all academic, cultural and sports activities.
  • Strive hard to achieve best results
  • Remember that if you are DETERMINED you can achieve any amount of success
  • Follow strictly and daily the two valuable concepts. “Organise Yourself” and “Small Kindness Movement”
